What’s the difference between hypnotherapy and counselling?
Counselling and hypnotherapy both aim to support personal change, but they work through very different mechanisms.
Counselling focuses on talking through experiences, emotions, and relationships to gain understanding and perspective. It helps you process the past and explore patterns of thought and behaviour through reflective conversation.
Hypnotherapy, in contrast, works directly with the subconscious mind, the part responsible for habits, emotional responses, and automatic reactions. In a relaxed, focused state, you can reshape underlying beliefs and associations more efficiently than through conscious discussion alone.
Some people find counselling helps them process and understand, while hypnotherapy helps them retrain and move forward. Both approaches can complement each other depending on your needs.
