What is hypnotherapy, really?
Forget the myths. This isn’t stage hypnosis or losing control.
Hypnotherapy is a gentle, focused way of working with your subconscious, the part of your mind that quietly shapes how you feel, think, and react.
You stay aware and in charge throughout.
It varies for everyone, but many people say it feels like a calm pause, a rare chance to switch off the noise and focus inward, without distraction, led safely and professionally.
You won’t be “put under.” You won’t lose control.
And you never have to talk about anything you don’t want to.

What to Expect
You’ll be welcomed into a quiet, private therapy room in central Lincoln. It’s a calm, one-to-one setting where the full hour is set aside for you.
We’ll start with a conversation about what’s brought you in. That might be a specific issue you want to change, or something less defined, a feeling, a pattern, or a general sense that something needs to shift. You don’t need to explain it perfectly. We’ll work with what shows up.
Once we’ve set the focus, we’ll begin the hypnotherapy.
You’ll stay seated, fully awake and in control, you might want to close your eyes. However you chose to experience the session, I’ll guide you into a focused, relaxed state, not sleep, not unconsciousness, just a shift in how your attention is working. Enough to quiet the overthinking and allow space for change to happen.
What happens next depends on what’s needed:
- Sometimes I’ll do most of the talking, using tailored language, imagery, or suggestion to help things shift below the surface.
- Sometimes we’ll talk together in that focused state, a kind of conversation that feels quieter, but clearer.
You don’t have to “do” anything or get it right. You can say whatever comes to mind.
The session lasts around 50 minutes. You’ll leave grounded, calm, and with your mind moving in a new direction, even if you can’t always explain how straight away.
